In this portfolio category, you will find artwork samples of people illustration and illustrated women by Yaansoon Illustration + Art. Some of the artwork found here is from the artist’s blog series Illustrated Women Who Can, which celebrates resilient women from around the world. The Illustrations try to capture the culture and folk heritage of the ladies featured in the series, with special attention to cultural diversity, multi-cultural stories, and women rights and equity. These character illustrations also have a cultural travel edge to them, seeing how Yaansoon also likes to add patterns and visual cues inspired by the urban, folk and tribal heritage of the people in her illustrations. As for the illustration technique, it is done mostly in pen and ink on paper, with hints of analogue painting using gouache and watercolour. The final artwork is edited and painted digitally, and it can be submitted as a flattened piece or in layers. At times, the illustrator likes to venture into mimicking the linear inky effect of analogue pen and ink by using Adobe Photoshop brushes, producing fully digital artworks.
