People Illustration Portfolio
In this people illustration portfolio, you will find artwork samples of people illustration and illustrated women by Yaansoon Illustration + Art. In addition to client work, some of the artwork found here is from the artist’s blog series Illustrated Women Who Can, which celebrates resilient women from around the world. These Illustrations aim to capture the culture, traditions and folk heritage of the featured people and ladies, with special attention to cultural diversity, women empowerment, multi-cultural stories, and women’s rights. These character illustrations also have a cultural travel edge to them, seeing how Yaansoon also likes to add patterns, motifs, and visual cues inspired by the urban, folk and tribal heritage of the people in her illustrations. The artist’s travels to over 20 countries worldwide across 4 continents, has allowed her a unique chance to understand the nuances of different cultures, and to represent these subtleties within her illustrations. As for the illustration technique in this people illustration portfolio, it is done in either pen and ink on paper, or digitally using software brushes, with hints of collage and analogue painting using gouache or watercolour. The final artwork is edited and painted digitally, and can be submitted as a flattened piece or in layers. Some of the tools used to create these illustrations include: Professional Rotring ink pens, digital Adobe Photoshop brushes, a Wacom tablet, drawing Android apps on Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, as well as watercolour and gouache paints.
