| A green energy conceptual Illustration, and editorial illustration, depicting Made-in-Italy clean power solutions, by Illustrator and Artist Yaansoon |
Although I completed this illustration commission in 2019, I thought posting it to my online portfolio on the occasion of Earth Day 2020 was the perfect timing to share its message! The pandemic has really shown us how suffocating our economies have been to our own health, and the health of the planet. India and Italy, among other nations, have seen a dramatic drop in air pollution levels due to lockdowns. Lions, goats, and deer are roaming the streets of Africa, Wales, and Japan, while fish are returning to Venice’s canals as water becomes clearer. It’s time we changed our ways from the ground up.
The Brief
The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) – Agenzia ICE commissioned me mid-2019 to create a conceptual illustration for an event promoting clean energy solutions, offered by some of Italy’s leading eco-friendly providers and manufacturers. The client requested a conceptual illustration for an event dubbed, “Italian Green Solutions: B2B Workshop in Renewable Energy, Water & Waste Treatment.”
Reading the event’s brief, I concluded it was best to focus the illustration on three key elements and sectors, as follows: Wind energy, solar energy, and water. The illustration was also created in a way to reflect the sense of calm, harmony and ease that clean environment and greenery bring to the inhabitants of green metropolises. As such, this green energy conceptual illustration made sure to strike a balance between the business side of the event with a touch of nature-loving idealism through illustrative details and the overall colour palette.
The Deliverables
ITA requested that the green energy conceptual illustration be adapted to a host of surfaces, events management products, and marketing uses, as follows: Roll-up banner, illustrated poster, projector backdrop, event’s A4 folder & A5 badge, brochure A5 cover, social media post, and call for application PDF, and a newspaper colour ad.
