Illustrated Travel Stories

I started this Illustrated Travel Stories blog series to find an excuse to illustrate cultural and wanderlust stories from the 20 countries I have been to. This exercise will also help me further develop my travel illustration style, inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern arts, crafts, patterns and textures. With travels scattered across four continents, this illustrated blog series starts in Italy. In another post, we fleetingly visit the food scene across the Mediterranean, and make a brief stop in Jordan, home to 5 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and a Seven Wonders of the World location (the rose-red city of Petra). I plan to include future illustrated travel posts about my time in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Algeria, in addition to exotic places like Samarqand in Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Thailand. European countries like the UK, Austria, the Netherlands, Germany and the former Czechoslovakia, will also be featured. I love travel because getting in touch with the planet’s cultural diversity enriches the soul and broadens the horizons of the mind.
