Today is the first anniversary of my culinary travel illustration blog, Yaansoon.com. On a day like today, I posted my first words on my About page, followed by the Welcome post and an intro for the first segment in my Illustrated Blog Series, namely Illustrated Middle Eastern Recipes.
Shortly after, I launched Illustrated Travel Stories, Illustrated Women Who Can, and Illustrated Italian Recipes. This being my 30th post on the blog, I’m happy to share with you the news that two further blog series are in the pipeline, and they are: Illustrated Middle Eastern Kitchen Tools, and Illustrated Natural Beauty Tips.
This culinary travel illustration blog has been instrumental in shaping and developing my food illustration and travel illustration style, and has served as an ever-growing Portfolio highlighting my creative thinking and artistic style. Almost every illustration you find in here is my way of “commissioning” myself to create food and travel artwork. When I first started, I knew exactly the kind of niche market my work would fit into, and so I started creating illustration topics and creative briefs to help me create illustrations for the book publishing, branding, editorial, and licensing clients in the food and travel industries.
I have been blessed with clients, mainly in Italy and the UK, who are really nice to work with, and who also love and appreciate my work. It is a true blessing to work with clients with whom you share mutual respect and a common creative vision – and for this I am truly grateful.
I am also grateful that this culinary travel illustration blog has offered me the rare opportunity of reconnecting with my culinary childhood memories, also helping me grow as a person. Because of Yaansoon.com, I was able to reconnect with my food heritage, as well as redefine and explore my artistic and personal identity as a woman with a multi-cultural background. The tagline “The Illustration Blog of a Nomadic Mediterranean Foodie” has also been fundamental in keeping me focused on the kind of topics and illustrations I wanted to introduce to my blog.
Having travelled to more than 20 countries across four continents, I am happy to have found an outlet on this blog to tell some of these stories, accompanied with illustrations and urban sketching adventures that also helped hone my illustration style.
And for those of you who connect with me on WordPress, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube, Flickr, Tumblr, and Redbubble, thank you for your kind likes, insights and comments. And thanks for my newsletter subscribers, who happen to be from different parts of the world, including the UK, Australia, Turkey, New Zealand, Italy, and the US.
I wish you all a joyful 1st anniversary and many happy returns!
