Food and Travel
In this section I share general Food and Travel posts, news entries, and food illustrations that reach beyond the scope of Italian and Middle Eastern food and wanderlust adventures.
Although the main focus of my blog is on authentic and delicious recipes from Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and Jordan (in the East), as well as Morocco, Tunisia and Morocco (in the West), I sometimes might want to deviate a bit and post a one-off recipe from elsewhere.
A Kitchen with a Food and Travel Feel
Having travelled to more than 20 countries around the world, it became clear to me that there are some subtle similarities between certain foods from different cultures. Let me give you an example: Dumplings and Ravioli come readily to mind. The basic premise is the same in terms of the dough, but the manifestation is completely different.
My husband and I like to think of the basic and common thread that runs through these world recipes before making variations on them. We might one day decide to make a basic pizza dough. We’ll then negotiate the ingredients to go on top. Is it going to be an Italian pizza, a Turkish meat pie, or a Middle Eastern open bread with Zaa’tar and olive oil as a mouth-watering topping?
