I created this ink and watercolour cosmetics illustration simply because I love L’Occitane. To be honest, if I were to add cosmetics illustration to my current portfolio of food and travel artwork, it would be because of this marvellous French beauty brand.

This fineliner and watercolour cosmetics illustration is basically three iterations of the same bottle. Sporting a beautiful dark shade of magenta, these bottles contain L’Occitane’s Pivoine Sublime skin-perfecting toner, which I was told was sadly discontinued sometime last year.
To create these illustrations, I used traditional media – a permanent pen-and-ink fineliner and a combination of liquid and full-pan watercolours. Everything is analogue, except for the colourful backgrounds and the text below the three bottles (and, ehem, the frame).

So why do I love L’Occitane? I love how they use natural ingredients to make their skincare and beauty products, and how their creams and serums are truly high quality. Besides the actual products, I’m totally in love with their branding, packaging, and even the look and feel of their brochures. What a beautiful brand!
I usually write long posts, but this one is going to be short and sweet. Meanwhile, stay tuned for future illustrations and posts about food, travel, and yes… beauty.
